Default The Unproduced Weekly TV Series

Word has it that the 1979 mini-series did well enough in ratings/shares that a ongoing weekly tv series was contemplated by the network. This theoritical weekly series would have competed with The Incredible Hulk and Battlestar Galactica for viewers. My guess is the basic premise would have been each week Ben and Mark would be the hunted or the hunters. It would likely have expanded beyond vampires and into other supernatural topics. Our brave heroes would know a vampire or other supernatural antagonist (witches, werewolves, banshees, wraiths, ghosts, etc) was about to reveal itself by the blue glow of holy water. I have always wondered how far talks might have gone within the network. Did the network go as far as creating a 'writer's bible' for the Salem's Lot weekly series? If so did any TV writers produce teleplays for a first season?
