Small Town Ordinary Evil

Tell you what, I'm reading Under the Dome at the moment, and I got to say noone does small town ordinary evil like Stephen King. I'm not talking about supernatural evil, just BAD people, like the Rennie's in Under the Dome, Max Devore and his sister in Bag of Bones. Characters like these, argh, the response they bring out in me is like nothing I've had before with books or anything.

Can anyone else think of great examples?

Oh yeah, another great example is Zack McCool/Jim Dooley in Lisey's Story

It seems that this is more of a theme in his later works. I can't recall many from prior decades.

It is indeed It. The kid's name was Patrick Hockstetter. There was also some other amazing small town evil in It: Henry Bowers and his father, the burning of the black nightclub, the attack on the gay kid at the festival.

Some serious small town evil going on in Wizard and Glass, too.
