    Default Steve needs your input

    Steve asked me to post this message:

    Hey, you guys--I saw a lot of you Constant Readers while I was touring for Under the Dome, and I must say you're looking good. Thanks for turning out in such numbers, and thanks for all the nice things you've said about Under the Dome. There'll be another book next year. It's a good one, I think, but that's not why I'm writing. I mentioned two potential projects while I was on the road, one a new Mid-World book (not directly about Roland Deschain, but yes, he and his friend Cuthbert are in it, hunting a skin-man, which are what werewolves are called in that lost kingdom) and a sequel to The Shining called Doctor Sleep. Are you interested in reading either of these? If so, which one turns your dials more? Ms. Mod will be counting your votes (and of course it all means nothing if the muse doesn't speak). Meanwhile, thanks again for 2009.

    Hi,

    Shouldn't there be a poll in this thread, Ms Mod?

    A new Mid-Word book please, but only 51%/49%.

    But whatever you decide will be tickety boo with me.

    Under the Dome is MAGNIFICENT IMO - easily the best novel of the 21st century and richly deserving of the Pulitzer prize, especially considering how integral good journalism is to UtD.

    Long days and pleasant nights

    That's weird, I put one in when I set up the thread. I'll go redo it.

    Those of us who've imersed ourselves in Roland's saga would certainly welcome a deeper peek into his past.
    But;
    Danny Torrence beyond those turbulant teen puberty years? Jesus Yes Steve!
    I only hope the poor kid found a decent therapist!

    I'd have to opt for the follow-up to "The Shining" personally. It was one of the first SK books that I ever read, and I find the idea of a follow up more than thirty years later to be fascinating.

    I think that the most interesting follow-ups tend to be those that occur after a big time gap, when a lot of water has passed under the bridge, and the writer's style has been somewhat altered over the decades.

    I hope this doesn't mean that you're running out of new ideas though, Steve!

    Well, I voted for Doctor Sleep, but I'd be psyched for either!
