Revenge feels GOOD!

I can’t help feeling that Dolores’ husband got what was coming to him and I wonder if that makes me uncivilized. It’s not even that I am happy Dolores protected her daughter from him, but more that she avenged her own honor by getting rid of the bastard. It’s funny how a character that we know did something so awful as cold-bloodedly murdering her husband can be so lovable and yes, almost admirable.

Some b*st*rds have it coming. Otherwise you end up spending the rest of your life looking over your shoulder.
Dolores took a wise decision. But I don't think she coldbloodedly did it. She did plan it, but I'm quite sure guilt weighed down, no matter what he'd done. She doesn't seem like a character who can take someone's life and don't care.. but she's strong and won't show it.

I love that she did what she had to do, TWICE, and didn't worry about the consequences, sometimes what happens to you shouldn't play into the decision making. Just too bad that Selena had to witness her first act, it would have saved so much heartache.

Dolores husband definitly got what he deserved. Worse than being a bully and a wife beater was the abuse of his daughter. I know what that feels like from my own father and it made me glad when he got his just desserts. I only hoped it was slow and painful. I was also very glad that she got away with it. Her boss in the big house was actually kind of pitiful, but really only lonely. So yes, revenge feels GOOD!

You know it! That quote that Vera & Delores uses sure said it all. Delores' husband easily deserved her revenge. Just like in: Gerald's Game -.

I loved this book. I read it years ago. The one line I remember most is "an accident can be a woman's best friend". I would just like to say amen to that.

I do not understand the idea of guilt. Why do people feel guilty for loving Delores. I'm with you. I truly believe that everyone has an evil side but in today's PC world you cannot allow yourself to feel any animosity towards anyone or anything. I am not saying to be violent is a good thing. I am just saying that everyone should allow themselves to feel anger and evil. I loved Delores Claiborne. To me she is a hero.

I think this is a pretty good point right here. We're taught all our lives that it's wrong to take the law (or "justice," if you prefer) into our own hands and that we should treat others the way we would have them treat us and blah, blah, blah and nice, nice, nice . . . but rarely a day goes by when I don't find at least one valid reason to choke the stupidity out of someone I'm forced to deal with, whether I like it or not . . . and I think admiring a character like Dolores, who acts upon her convictions without (or at least, with very little) fear of consequence is a nice coping mechianism for those times when it's difficult not to act on our more primitive impulses.

Either that, or I am entirely wrong.
