everything's eventual?

When Everything's Eventual first came out, I was in the bookstore skimming through books and every now and again I would read the shortest story. That day I read a story about a boy/thing in a basement, might've been chained to a cot.The boy/thing and his mother were the only characters w/ maybe the exception of neighbors. It has bugged me ever since! Although when I finally was able to buy Everything's Eventual it was after the paperback came out and the story wasn't there, although I could've swore it was that one. Was there a story edited out of the paperback that was in the first hard-cover? or is this story by another author?

It must have been a story by another author. It isn't one of King's, although it DOES sound interesting. Please post when you have details!
