Doctor Sleep: a sequel?

Hey guys has anyone else heard the rumours a possible idea Mr King has for a sequeal to The Shining? I must admit from what I've read on multiple sites I like the ideal but what does everyone else think and would they welcome a sequel?

It's only talk for now and even if he does write the book, it will be several years before that would happen as he has other projects ahead of it.

I hope King won't write a sequel to the Shining, cause it's perfect just the way it is. I just don't think the risk is worth taking. The idea sounds kinda weird, and I don't think it would work for me, but on the other hand, I know that Big Steve could pull it off

Of course, not long after I'd posted my response Steve came into the office and handed me a message he wanted posted asking for feedback about writing Doctor Sleep. You can cast your vote in the Survey Forum for either that idea or his Dark Tower idea as his next book.

Wow that is exciting and unexpected news! Would have a guessed maybe a sequel to Salem's Lot, but never the Shining. I have mixed feeling on sequels. On the one hand, wanting to know what happened. On the other, the tendency to hold the original to such standards that nothing can live up to expectations.

I hope not too much time has passed to write a sequel to the Shining. I would definately read it if it ever came out. You know what will happen though as soon as the book comes out (if it gets written), it will be turned into a movie. I could picture Wes Craven directing in it.

I'm not gonna go right out and say that I think this book is gonna be great, but I excitedly await confirmation as to whether Doctor Sleep is going to be written. I know that King could probably make it an entertaining story, but I simply cannot picture a grownup Danny Torrance!
