    Default Book signing

I just read that SK had a book signing in a Maryland Walmart (in the children's section), wow! I have worked years on my own personal SK collection (blood, sweat, tears and a couple muggings later lol! I'm down to having them all) I do not own a signed copy by SK, and wish I did...and wish I could be as lucky as the woman who got to proudly stand beside him and have her picture taken. What a day that must have been!! Anyway, I'm curious how and when book signings take place for him...is it based on a whim? SK writes about Kansas alot in his books, I think most every book he's written has the word Kansas in it at least once. I live in Kansas, the nearest Walmart for me is 1.5 hours drive, but you can believe I'd be there waiting next to the kids socks for him to sign a book for me (all day if I had to!) But if I just happened to be in Walmart with my kids, and they came up to me and said "hey SK is over in the children's section signing books" I just might think they were pulling my chain and wave them off!! My question would be "So when do you think you'll be comming to Kansas?"

This book tour has been in the works for several months now and has been set up by Scribner and our office.

It's not just a random thing...you have to know about it in advance and register. He will be in Atlanta tomorrow evening for a signing, and you had to register online with the book store to secure a spot, of which there are only 400. He is only doing 7 dates to support Under the Dome, all on the east coast. A lot of us are either flying in to the signings or driving several hours to get there. I'm driving 4.5 myself to get to Atlanta tomorrow.
Also, I don't recall Kansas being in most every book he's written, and I've read all but 3 of them. His books are set in Maine with a few exceptions.
