I was hoping someone can help me out. I have a fairly large collection of SK hardcovers...i checked to see if any are first editions and if i did it correct, quite a bit are. my question is....is there any website that will tell me what the books are valued at if they are first editions? i will never sell them, im just curious

Often it says "First Edition by *insert publisher", you can also check out the codes at the bottom of the first(i think) real page, it says " 1 2 3 4 5 7 8", stuff like that or "69 70 71 72 74" etc. A google search would probably get this straight though

Go to the home page www.stephenking.com and look under FAQ scroll down. All you need to know is there.

On that note, I'm pretty sure I have a 1st of "Firestarter." Does Haven ever auction anything? I'd donate it if The Man would sign it. Maybe pull some coin for the charity.

We prefer to have people use Ebay's Mission Fish for any donated items for auctions to benefit The Haven Foundation as it doesn't create any extra work for us that way. I'd have to ask Steve if he would be willing to sign anything as the book tour has worn him out with the signings.

Before I saw this thread I had never really thought of first editions before. The majority of my SK books have been purchased in used book stores. I went on to the main site and down loaded the PFD about first editions and went through all my books. It is amazing how many first editions I have and didn't even know it! Cujo, Christine and Pet Sematary just to name a few. There are some I even have in hardcover duplicates where they are both first editions. Wow, to think I have never spent more than $10 on most of my hardcovers. What a nice surprise!

We are used book store shoppers as well. Best score was picking up a 1st edition HC The Shining and 1st HC edition of The Bachman Books for a grand total of $8.50

I almost ran to the car because I thought they were going to stop me halfway to the parking lot and make me give them back.

I'm always on the hunt for first editions and have quite a few myself. I just know that one day I'm going to run across the most coveted SK first edition...Carrie.

    Hi,

Aye, that was great news about a signed first edition copy of 'Carrie', wasn't it?

Proves that they're still out there, NEVER pass a secondhand shop wiithout checking their books!

I have some first editions. Now that this site has brought me to know of first editions. I actually look for them now. I also try to purchase kings new books when they first come out,so as to be sure I get a first edition. This took me years to know some books were more valuable to collect then others.
