    Default NYC Times Talk

Well I was lucky enough to attend last night and had just about the best time a guy could have. My girlfriend and I arrived in line around 4 o'clock, and managed to get 2nd row center when we finally got to sit down. Steve was his usual charming self, and kept us laughing and smiling throughout. I got to ask him a question about how he approached character perspective, i.e. first, third person. Getting to ask my favorite writer a question was a highlight of my life and I got to hear lots of good questions and answers. At one point when asked about his website he even gave a shout out to our favorite Ms. Mod! Was good to hear her get her due. I drew a lucky card and managed to snag my first signed Stephen King book. I'm still ecstatic about the wonderful way he addresses his fans, and how funny he is in a live context. Great sense of humor. Thankee to Ms. Mod to keeping us updated on all of this beforehand and keeping us informed so I could arrange coming to the city and having one of my favorite experiences. Your tireless efforts really can end in some magical moments for some of us.

He said the story basically guided the "person" in which it's told. Duma Key cried out to be a 1st person, but in a lot of books you need 3rd person to describe what's happening off stage. To be honest, I was a little overwhelmed being talked to by the King. I think I may have been the only 6'1" man in the room blushing.
