Already started a thread about it in under written works UTD, but Steve mentioned in NYC last night that it's in the works at HBO. So Spielberg is directing???

Spielberg optioned the rights but I don't know what role he'll have in the production itself.

This is a bit off topic Ms Mod, but I think I read somewhere that King wrote a spec script for Spielberg for Poltergeist, but that Spielberg didn't go with it because it was too violent. Do you know if there is any truth to that?

I don't know the answer to that one. Stephen and Steven worked on a haunted house project but weren't able to reach an agreement on how it should be done. Stephen later edited it for the Rose Red miniseries and Steven Spielberg did The Haunting (a remake of The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson).
