I'm sorry, I can't tell which post you're answering above, mcgower. Also, what's wrong with Apologetics? You're aware it has nothing to do with apologizing, yes (though, an apology is a civilized thing)?

Apologetics
For centuries, bad people have claimed to be Christians (Christ warned us about them) while using the Name to do evil. I think Stephen doesn't believe people like Jim Rennie are sincere Christians--like the KKK and Hitler--and so, are doubly dangerous.
I think if you're going to write a story about a microcosm of the world, you seek to represent as many human types history has revealed that will fit (under a dome), and the worst and the best of each. Under pressure people's hidden natures emerge, so the worst getting even worse is great suspense, while the best pressurized into becoming even better fulfills hope. The emergence of Barbie's heroic nature required pressure, as did Big Jim's evil one. I see Barbie a Christ-like representation, with Big Jim an ironic ant-Christ. Authors have always used these archetypes.
A person is free to believe all Christians are like Big Jim, and that sK doesn't like Jesus, but I think that person is missing the point.
