Lightbulb The last SK book you ever read.

Hi, I'm a new SK fan as well as a new member to this board. So far I've read The Green Mile, 'Salems Lot, Pet Sematary, Roadwork, and Rage (vastly underrated imho). I'm also a big fan of the TV show LOST and got to thinking. On LOST, there's a character who is a fan of Charles Dickens. He's read everything he's ever wrote except for one novel, and carries it around, intending it to be the last thing he reads before he dies.

Assuming you knew the time of your death, what SK book would you save for last? What would you choose to be the last book you read before you died and why?

The Art Of Changing TIme Zones Quickly by Ima N. Reddy.
I've just been putting it off..not enough time.

Not just because I'm a member here on our talented and most generous benefactor's website (well, I ended up here for a reason afterall), but at this point, The Stand would be the book in my grubby little Pat paws if I had my druthers.
I've said it before, and until another comes along (& who knows, possibly it'll be this week thanks to a very terrific friend) I'll say it again, it's simply the best story/book I've ever read.

(Of course, a reeeealy good book on emergency first aid & resuscitation techniques wouldn't necessarily be out of the question, if ya know what I'm sayin'!)

That's a tough one for me since presently there are only 3 books of SK's I haven't read: On Writing, The Bachman Books (both currently sitting on my bookshelf) and Under the Dome (which will be on my bookshelf on Friday night after the man himself signs it).
Given how much I love SK and everything he writes, I don't think I could put one off and wait to read it. I devour everything he writes as soon as I possibly can.

The Bachman Books are pretty good Delores. I've finished Rage and Roadwork so far. They're a bit harder to get into, but well worth the read. Looking forward to The Long Walk next.

A crazy part of me wants to save The Stand for a while, simply because so many cite it as their favorite. However, the other part of me wants to go get it next >_<

I would read The Long Walk. Just like Roland went back to the start of part of his journey, I would return to the first book I read that put me on the path of the beam

IT would be the last thing I would want to read.

Great characters and wonderful story telling.

Assuming that I get to live until the story is finished, I'd squeeze a little extra living time out of this deal by choosing The Dark Tower books, and reading them s-l-o-w-l-y.

Southpaw, The Stand is definitely worth the wait, but if you wait TOO long, you'll never finish it...lol. It is by far SK's best book, although UTD sounds like it's going to be pretty close. I can't wait to read it, although I have a Diana Gabaldon (the latest in the Outlander series) that my husband bought me for our anniversary last month that I need to read. That sucker is as long as The Stand, so I'll be on it for awhile.
