Tough call. It depends, I think, on where you are in life. The people who seem to appreciate Lisey the most are those who have been with the same person in very long term relationships, like 20 years plus.

But both are great reads. I would give Duma the edge on being a bit easier to fall into.

I thought it was an excellent story. So many twists, and just an overall great read.

I liked Duma Key - although I don't think it's one of Mr. King's best. There are many more of his books which I prefer.... I also didn't quite understand what you meant about the ending. Could you explain?

He DOES leave it wide open for your own "mental sequel" doesn't he?(Though a real sequel would be nice)...

Duma Key is a must have with me at all times (yes I carry the hardback), I never let it out of my sight.

What a great movie it would make.

Duma Key is a great novel. It's definetely one of the best SK books! Now it's one of my favorite ones. I absolutely loved the characters, especially Wireman. I liked the idea. And I felt so sorry when Ilse died and then when Wireman died too. It's so sad, I could hardly keep the tears away.
But in the end, I can only say that I really enjoyed the book and was so sad when I finished reading it, I wanted it to continue! But an open ending is also very nice, it gives a chance to think and try to imagine what could happen next!

Just finished Duma Key - great book but one thing has me a little spooked - why did Jack's father die from Crohn's disease? I have this and as far as I know, it can't kill, but you can die from complications. Just spooked me when I came across that statement.

Duma key was my way back to SK.
I read quite a few SK-novels back in the 80's (yeah, I'm that old) but had a "pause" for many years - until I on a hunch read Duma key!
That brought me back! - now I'm catching up, reading SK at regular intervals (you don't want to eat sweets every day, do you?)
