I was in Maine a few weeks ago and got some more photos of Stephen King related sites. Here are a couple of my favs:

Steve did an interview quite a few years ago for the Lewiston (Maine) Sun-Journal and he mentioned that there was an actual house in Durham when he was growing up that was the inspiration for the Marsten house but it has burned down since the time when Steve lived there.

That's probably the same house mentioned in "Stephen King Country". I think it was even called the Marsten House. I bet it was more creepy than Shiloh Chapel!

Thanks! I took that photo early in the morning before we headed down to Bar Harbor. The morning sunlight was so beautiful and warm that morning!

I use Nikon cameras, mostly D300's and D80's and a variety of lenses.

i adore his house. ever since i was little i've wanted to live in that style of house. they just dont make em like that anymore.

That store may be the inspiration for The Mist but it isn't where the movie was filmed. That particular store is in Louisiana as the entire movie was filmed in Shreveport, if you listen to the commentary on the DVD you will hear that for yourself. I know because I have call sheets from some of the actors who were in the movie in my autograph collection.

So jealous! Coming from Australia I'll never get to see these places in person, so it's cool to see pictures of them. I have often wondered about the places SK's books are based, & now I have seen a few. Thanks! (Got a few goosebumps seeing the photo of the store where "The Mist" was set. One of my favourite stories). Thanks again.
