Default Question about hardcover Stephen King books.

    I hope this isn't a stupid question.

Are ALL of Stephen King's novels available in large hardcovers? I own some of his SMALLER hardcover books because I have a hard time finding larger ones. For some reason it bugs me when I own small hardcover books or paperback. Is there any book I shouldn't bother searching for in large hardback, since I won't be able to find it? Some examples of books I can't seem to find in large hardback are: The Gunslinger (the actual book -- not the comic one), 'Salem's Lot, The Green Mile, all the Bachman books with the exception of The Regulators.

I don't exactly understand what you mean by "large hard cover". Are you refering to large print books?

I think the smaller HC's you have are book club edition books. The oldest first edition I own is a copy of The Shining and even though it isn't a BCE, it's a smaller size than his later works.

I believe the Colorado Kid was done in paperback only.

The Green Mile was available as a hardcover book combining all six parts. It was published by Scribner is 2000.

The Colorado Kid was issued as a hardcover by PS Publishing in various editions with different artists. I know that the regular editions (unsigned) are still available and can be ordered from their website. It also was issued as a large print book in hardcover by Random House.

Six Stories was also done only as a trade paperback.

Creepshow was also only issued as a paperback in the US. There are some hardcover versions out there, but these are rebound items, such as those by Perma Bound books.

    Thanks for the responses, everyone.

From the responses I got, it seems like The Colorado Kid and The Green Mile (maybe) are only available in paperback for the most part. Oh, I'd like to quickly say that I'm not planning to spend a lot of money for hardcovers. So I'm not looking for special editions or anything if they're over the average price of hardcovers (about $30ish). Thanks again. If anyone figures out any others, let me know. Hopefully it'll help others, too. (I hope I'm not the only person with this question, lol).

The Green Mile is a mass market hardcover by Scribner and should be readily available for purchase. I just checked Amazon and they have it on their site so I would think others do as well.

I still don't understand what you mean by "large hard cover". The early books were printed in a smaller size (then say the Viking or Scribner books that is) becuase that is the size Double Day was printing books in then.

Some examples of books I can't seem to find in large hardback are: The Gunslinger (the actual book -- not the comic one), 'Salem's Lot, The Green Mile, all the Bachman books with the exception of The Regulators.

The Gunslinger is only very slightly shorter then the Viking books of that time, I'm not sure what size the 3rd printing is but it should be around the same as the original. The revised edition (2003) should be that same size too.

Salem's Lot is one of the first and if you get it in the first edition later printing it will be shorter then the Viking/Scribner books.

The Greeen Mile: there is a hard cover edition of this done by scribner, it is the same size as the other scribner books of his.

The Bachman Books: If you are looking for the first 4 he did there is a hardcover collection of those, called "The Bachman Books" and it is the same size as the Viking books. All the rest of Bachman books are in hard cover also the same size as Scribner books.

    Hope this helps you.

Just curious here: Do you want all the books the same size so they look more uniform on your shelves? if so it isn't going to happen, each publisher does their own thing and even change the way they do things over time.
