March 2010 can't come fast enough! I'm deeply enthusiastic by this new series ~ and it's arriving via Vertigo (my favorite line of funny books).
I have no idea why this is exciting me so much... but I can't wait!
What's the feedback on this one?

I have been very selective about my comic buying of late, mostly for financial reasons but partly because I bore easily with the standard .....
People in masks and capes doing battle in and around major cities, throwing snappy witisisms at each other in between maintaining their 'day job' identities. There doesnt seem to be much in the way of original material
That is until I read about American Vampire
And as a bonus-- King will contribute to the first 5 issue story arc !
I am looking forward to this and if they do plan several more 'arcs' in this series maybe King will have had enough fun with it where he might consider returning for a story or two over the run of this interesting series
I picked up a signed copy of issue one (signed by Scott). Excellent comic and you won't be disappointed.
This was mentioned elsewhere but does anyone (besides me) plan on just getting those issues that King has contributed to, or are you going to be in for the entire series?
John
I'll be getting at least the first 5 issues.
Did anyone notice the date on the front cover of #1? Mine says May '10
The first "episodes" are awaiting me at my "comic connection". Can't wait! I'll probably hang with it post-King to see if the quality stays up, and if not-I'll dump it like a hot rock. BTW, love the reference to "funny books", haven't heard that one in years!!!!
I'll stick around post King and give the kid a chance
Though I do fear that once King's involvement is over they may revert to the standard 22 pages which, while understandable and a bummer, would still make for better fare than 70 percent of the stuff being sold (in my opinion)
Hopefully they'll do a big advertising push for the book when it's collected in graphic novel form later on like October or November. It'll probably be a hardcover with a few extra pages of behind the scenes and whatnot. I'm looking forward to it. I had hoped I could wait til then and just read it all in one sitting but i can't wait- HAVE TO grab each issue as it comes out every month it's so well written/illustrated
But then, thats the ironic thing about comicbooks over regular fiction
In order for it to make it's money back the fans really need to buy it each month or else the publisher might take a bath and cancel the series in the middle of the story.
Most fans these days tend to wait for the collected graphic novel but I hope there are enough impatient vampire fans out there (like myself) who are supporting the book over the next 5 issues so we can at least complete this arc.
meanwhile- regular fictional work comes out in hardcover first and then goes to the more popular paperback (in most cases)
If you love vampires then THIS is a story you'll love. A new breed of vampire that survives in open sunlight and will (as proposed in this series) do his thing through the last 100 years of American history.
I'm actually hoping the writer will consider a fiction novel in addition to this comic series
Issue 2 due out tomorrow
Go check it out!!
Ms Mod--
Has Hollywood optioned this for film rights?
It's a natural. I can see at least 3 films being made from the concept alone
Although maybe they want to wait and see the current 5 issue story through before making an offer
