I must admit that Hugh Laurie never occurred to me as a potential Roland. Now that I'm forced to think about it, he'd probably be good. But.....

Timothy Olyphant still gets my vote. Ever since I first saw him as Sheriff Bullock in Deadwood I was sold. He is Roland...plus he has worked with Stephen King before in Dreamcatcher.


Those of you who agree, what would we need to do to suggest his selection for the role?

I think whoever they get for Roland, they need to find someone who has a very intimidating presence... Who ever it is needs to come across as a total bad ass...
I know I'm probably gonna catch a lot of heat for this but I think Vin Diesel could pull it off... Check out Chronicles of Riddick- the movie was kind of dumb but Vin played the part of a bad ass real well.

Again, I know that this is a stretch but how about Steven Segal for the "man in black" or Flagg???

Just my two cents wort, But I was thinking that Timothy Olyphant would make an excellent Roland, just saying. Thankee-sai. he is no stranger to westerns as he has stared in Deadwood, the HBO series. I believe he would make an excellent Roland of Gilead.

Yeah I agree Shia Labeouf as Eddie Idk I imagine some short fat guy to play Eddie, maybe someone like Phillip Seemore Hoffman as Eddie or Dany Devito and I defently see the resemblance in Stephen King's character as Viggio Mortenson I think he would be a great Rolland of Gilliad or however you spell it, lol and Opera Winfery as Detta the sometimes crazy psychotic lady lol

I think Duchovny would be good because he can act a weird character and he kind of looks like a bad guy. Just imagine him with a dark cloak and having a palaver with Roland in the Desert.

Sam Elliot or Tommy Lee Jones would be too old for that role, I think. They'd be better as Big Coffin Hunters, IMO.

I know he is a little old, but the whole time I was reading The Dark Tower, I pictured Clint Eastwood as Roland. I think Whoopi Goldberg would be good as Odetta- she has the whole sassy thing. Maybe Colin Farrell as Eddie Dean.
