I was just thinking about that very thing the other day after hearing Ron Howard has officially decided not to do it. I'm glad. If a director like Ron Howard can't get carte blanche to do a story as fantastic as DT, all hope is lost. I would rather not see one of my favorite stories of all time turned into a bad movie. I didn't like the idea of him having to even discuss 'budgetary issues' and 'scale the project back.' Seriously?
To be fair, a story like DT just isn't 'Hollywood.' It probably wouldn't be successful. And how could the story be changed, or made more 'action oriented?' I wouldn't want that. If it's going to be done, it should be done right, just like the novels.
I would love to see an animated series that followed the books perfectly. They could afford to keep the 'less action oriented' parts of the story intact and wouldn't need to worry about budgets. It could be done in a similar artistic style to the prequel comics.
If I had my druthers, DT would be made into a movie as close to the books as possible, but sadly, resources are finite![]()
