Lightbulb Has Mr King retired Derry or Castle Rock?

This might seem an odd question but it seems Mr King's more recent pieces all seem to drift away from his fictional towns...I don't know what the most recent novel or short story that is based in Castle Rock or Derry or Little Tall Island or Haven but it seems his more recent works like Duma Key and Under the Dome move to different locations. My point is can anyone tell me if in recent years any of these towns have been re-visited and what would everyone think of more stories taking place with them or if Mr King retired them?

Needful Things was subtitled "The Last Castle Rock Story," so it might be safe to think that King doesn't intend to set another story there. Castle Rock does show up from time to time as a location in recent stories. Derry shows up in Dreamcatcher.

I believe Bag of Bones starts off in Derry, and has parts in Castle Rock County, but it doesn' t really have much to do with either. The focus is on the lake and TR-90 (I'm not sure if I got the name TR-90 right, but something like that).

I know I read somewhere (maybe one of the interviews at Lilija's site) that since he has spent so much time in Florida over the past years he feels more comfortable writing books in that area. He is definitely a writer who like to write what he knows so the new places he has resided in lately (the last decade) are finally starting to work their way into his books.

As for Castle Rook, Bev is right, that was "suppose" to be the last story from there. Of course that doesn't mean he will never write anything about that place again, but it does explain the fact he has yet to.

You might want to check out the News forum as there's a new story set in Castle Rock coming out in The New Yorker.

I grew up reading tales of Castle Rock and Derry. I hope King keeps them alive in upcoming stories so that all of us can retreat to those fictional lives that we know inside and out.
