    Default Master of Fine Arts

I subscribe to a few "writery" periodicals. They are all stuffed with advertisements about accredited MFA programs.

Does having such a degree mean anything more than just getting into the resume lottery to teach basic writing at a local technical college?

Well, a diploma certainly made a big difference to the Scarecrow in Wizard Of Oz, so maybe a new qualification could change your life for the better too, Bryan.

I could always use some more letters after my name. They'll look good in the obituary.

A Master's Degree- I happen to have a MFA in Drawing and Painting- I know a little something about them. There is no Phd in Fine Arts. Phd's in Art Education, and Art History are available-i'm not sure but i think Journalism and Poetry/Creative Writing may have Phd's-I know English,Mathematics,Art Education, etc do. Anyway-to the CRUX of the matter .The MFA, will a) immediately double your pay as a school teacher,b) expose you to mentors of your favorite subject-focus your subject matter, content, and through concentration; and immersion -make you "technically more knowledgeable," and help you produce a cohesive BODY OF WORK visual, written, or performance in Theater.c) it never hurts to have a complete Masters Degree- it comes with privileges in the Academic and Work world. Just Choose the MOST accredited School you can Find at the Best price. You cannot fail-by educating yourself Further. Work never goes unrewarded. It is also a lot of fun. It will never hurt to have one E. Freemantle.

Well, I tried, and quickly realized that I am no scholar...LSU...1988...Vance Bourjaily...seemed like a a nice guy. I should have taken him up on renting space above his unattached garage...I could have remodeled it for him--I am a carpenter, not a scholar--and that would not gone a long way towards...problems.

When the nurse comes rushing over to your bed where you're hooked up to a needle, the "blood" or plasma draining into your arm--hey, $19 bucks a shot!---or whatever the price, but 19 sounds, well...so 19...--when she comes running over and says, that man over there is named....(insert your name here)...too!

And, of course, by that time, all those little HIVs are already in there...cue the movie...the sperm rushing toward the egg--but in this flick, call em germs...and they're rushing toward your heart...course, your bugs are in the other guy's...body...self...and so on...and so that is a story. So this other guy, black guy...who would be sitting at the right hand of Jesus, had he not gotten YOUR blood in him.

Yeah, mow mow...so what do YOU expect?

Anyway...sure, you bet....degreed and pedigreed...I had to attend some forced schooling to continue working for a living and all liberals everywhere danced heavenly on a pin...because this is what THEY want...gov't control of our bodies...and so on and so forth.

    Munching, munching, crowd noises.
