After being advised to do so by the fine people on this forum - say thankya - I went out and bought "The Dark Tower - A complete concordance" by Robin Furth.
And now, I cannot imagine how I ever survived without it.
Robin Furth has done an amazing job, incredible even, and I can´t even begin to wonder how many hours she must have spent with her nose buried in one of the Dark Tower´s seven installments.
Here are the answers to everything you could ever think of to ask about King´s huge story (except, of course, where freedom of interpretation is the point), and then some. Everything presented in a well-written, easy-to-work-with-fashion.

I cannot recommend this book enough.

I am a little over 100 pages into this right now and just wanted to remind folks that it is a very dry read. More like an academic essay on the Dark Tower series. I don't know what I was expecting, but after finishing the Dark Tower series, I started reading through this resource and it was like hitting a brick wall going 100mph. I've picked up little useful tidbits here and there, but it's like sitting down to read an encyclopedia or dictionary from cover to cover. Just a heads up. Ms. Furth has done an amazing job and I can only imagine how awesome it would have been to work that close to Mr. King on a project of this magnitude, but it starts off as quite a slow read.

Your example of reading it like an encyclopedia is accurate because it is intended to be a reference book, not necessarily read cover to cover. You might enjoy reading Bev Vincent's Road to the Dark Tower more if you want something that flows.

Try changing the way you are looking at the book(s). Remember it is not a novel, rather reference material. A guide to the ins and out of the Dark Tower journey. In a way, it is like a dictionary or encyclopedia- all the fact,nothing but the facts. Just don't think of it as regular book. Sit back and enjoy the tidbits of info and use it as a reference guide.

I have Robins Concordance and keep it close to my DT collection! Havent purchased Bevs yet. (how o how did I miss THAT?!) So I'll keep a sharp lookout for it. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
