Default Here or movies to "contrast & compare"

I am looking for a venue for serious discussion about The Body. I have looked but probably not far enough back to see if there is or has been a discussion of The Body vs Stand by Me. Anyone interested? Another place to look?

    Hi,

No, I think that it's a good place for it, considering that it's both a book AND a movie you want to discuss.

So what do you want to say?

    Personally, I love them both.

    Long days and pleasant nights

I love them both too! Even though they are set at a different time than when my childhood was, I feel that they both portray the feeling of childhood perfectly. You know - that age when you are almost a teen-ager but still a child at heart.

I'm with John on this. I'm not a huge fan of the movies made from SK's novels. Some are great, but IMHO, most of them blow. Stand by me is one that does not blow. I read the story first, as I normally do, and was in no way disappointed in the movie. When I re-read "The Body", I easily insert the characters from the film.

I thought that the story was very good, but that the movie was great. It demonstrates how magic can occur if you can find a sympathetic director, and cast the movie intelligently.

One of very few occasions where an SK story has actually been improved on the silver screen, IMO.
