And really, my only complaint is that it lacked at least two more stories. Anyway, THE RAFT was my favorite dark tale of the three and I loved King's story just as much. I truly love it when you place a cast of ordinary characters in the middle of an unusual situation and see how they respond and ultimately try to resolve the problem. In most case, especially in the world of Stephen King, the characters get the short end of the stick and meet gruesome deaths. I loved the idea of these four characters being stranded on a raft (float) in the middle of a freezing cold lake, far from help, while this strange slick stalks them and eats them. Great premise, right? I liked how The Raft in the film wrapped up the ending by showing the viewer exactly what happened to the last teen instead of leaving it to you imagination.
The number of stories in Creepshow 2 does seem like a problem for some people. I always thought the majority of people who give it negative reviews often do so because the first movie had five stories and the sequel had three, even though they won't come right out and admit it.

Truthfully, there are a few different ways that The Raft could have ended and still made for a good story.

Imagine an ending where the last character survives and chooses to report the story to the police. The police choose not to believe him, charge him with the disappearance of the other three teens and proceed to lock him up.

The way The Raft did end up, though, also makes me think of the movie Cabin Fever. In that story, the only character in the movie who didn't get sick at all comes out of hiding near the end and boasts about how he never got the virus only to be gunned down by townspeople assuming he was infected.

I haven't seen Creepshow 2 yet, so I'm totally thrilled to learn that The Raft was featured among its segments. I thought this story had great potential for a movie, as it was very scary stuff imho. I have to see the movie now. I think I'll rent it when my husband is not around. He hates scary stuff.

I know this is an old post but I just love this part of Creepshow 2. My brother and I used to always say "Mucho ecologico, Poncho, mucho ecologico" for some strange reason. Classic King. Love it! As a kid, it scared the crap out of me!

I belive the monster in the raft is an Acid Slime. Even if he got away from the shoreline it would had come on land with a ickly SLURRRRRRPP SLURRRRP and still smothered him with a lunge. NONE of them had a chance.

I agree and thers def a story behind the story going on there I belive the teens were watched and tested. Somebody breeded this monster and that makes them resonabile for 4 deaths and God knows how many others this slime has eaten.

I believe the Tales from the Darkside movie is considered the unofficial Creepshow 3. It features the Cat from Hell, based on the short story of the same name by King, and I believe that segment is also directed by George Romero.
