Question Just a personal request in regards to the audio book

I thought the reader was absolutely HORRIBLE. This is one of my favorite novels by King under the Dark Tower Series and I think it would be great if King could have the book read by someone else. There are plenty of great elderly actors out there who could be the reader.

That's interesting. I'm listening to the audiobook right now, and I think the narrator is great. I really can't stand Lois, though. I'm not sure if it's just how she's read, but she's soooo whiney and obnoxious.

I couldn't disagree more about the reader. I thought he was perfect. No accounting for taste, I guess.

I loved the narration by Eli Wallach. I thought he did a fantastic job. What bothered me about the audiobook was the odd music that kept coming up in random places.

    Totally agree here.

Just finished it on audio and the narration was great, but the music didn't jive well.

Just listened to Thinner and there's music there that is very similar to Insomnia's crazy guitar. lol

They both stand far behind the crazy circus music from Needful Things though.

The reader is Eli Wallach - of whom I've been a big fan of ever since seeing The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly. I think his performance reading Insomnia is not the best I have listened to by any means but I think he does a good enough job. What I find more annoying and what several others have mentioned are the far too frequent "musical interludes" with the over-the-top cheesy guitar riffs. I wish audiobook publishers would stop using that as a technique. IMO, it doesn't add any atmosphere to the performance or enhance the story - and often it just ends up drowning out the reader.

I thought Eli Wallach was one of the best narrators I've heard - I thoroughly enjoyed it.
