'salem's lot query (re: DT) - SPOILERS

just started reading 'wolves of the calla' so don't tell me what happens here please!! but i thought father callahan was bitten by the vampire in 'salem's lot...can someone just remind me what happened to him at the end of that book? i'm sure when i read further into 'wolves' it'll explain all the story in-between these two books, but i just want to check i'm remembering correctly about what happened to him at the end of his original story. any information would be most helpful, thanks!

Someone might be able to correct me because it's been a while, but I don't think he was bitten. I think Barlow forced him to drink some of his tainted blood. I could be wrong about that, though.

lencho, oh good, i look forward to that! because yeah i just have completely forgotten - and now that i've read everyone here telling me i'm remembering wrong, i am wanting even more to remember!

I think what you may confusing the real ending with the alternative ending offered in the uncut version of Salem's Lot (at the end, after the story itself is actually finished). In it Father Calahan dies, but not bitten - just killed by Barlow. At the real ending he is just made to drink Barlow's blood and in so becomes cursed, yet protected from the other vampires, because he was "Marked" by the master.

.........as far as i know i didn't read an abridged version, but i also don't recall there being an ending and an alternative ending. i'm probably just remembering badly - but now i would like to know where to find the version with the alternative ending!
