    Default Graduation Shock. ?

I was so impressed the second time around by ' Graduation Afternoon' that I just had to see if it has affected anyone else in the same way. I was lulled into the story the same way has before and the description of the 'nuke' grabbed me in the same shocking way, if not more so than the first time I read it. What a message the story is a gem!!!!!!

I thought it was a magical short story. Very Stephen Kingiesh. I too was left with the images in my mind long after I put it down, which I think is always a sign for an excellent short story - living such an impression in so few pages.

Thumbs down Re: Graduation Shock. ?

I have to say, although I was lulled by the scenes in Graduation Day, I thought it was a bit of a throw away story, and a second reading didn't change my opinion

I was wowed. Because of the pace and feel of the beginning, I thought 'Ah, this is going to be one of those slow-building stories, gradually building up to some horrible event, yes yes, I can strap in for that ride', and then POW, it was *not* a slow build, but a false sense of normalcy in a world about to go horribly, horribly wrong*, and I LOVED it.

It's not shaping up to be one of my favourites in the collection, but that doesn't mean much, since I tend to love all the stories in any King collection so...

I liked the story but like you said anne, not the one I liked the most. It was pretty good though.

I had to go back and read the bomb experience because I wasn't sure why she was seeing lights at first but that set it all aright. That guy that spoke gibberish behind her could make his own story

I didn't feel like I was sucked into it as much as some of the other stories in the collection.
