Hi,
I am new here. I really don't know what I am doing. I ran across this site because I was looking for Stephen King books. So I thought what better place to look that with a group like ya all (yes I am from the south). I am a Katrina victim. My husband and I lived in Biloxi Mississippi when Katrina hit. We lived about 2 miles north of the gulf and did not expect the water to come up as far as it did. We sat in our attic for 8 1/2 hours with the water up to the attic not knowing rather we would live or die. Anyway, that is not what I am here for. Just wanted to give you some background information. Well, they say you can replace everything (except pictures of course). I started collecting Stephen King books 20 years ago. I bought only hardback books. My kids would buy me his new release for my birthday in Nov. or Xmas every year. So I had a bookcase with glass doors full of Stephen King books and movies to keep them preserved. We lost everything in Katrina but the two things that hurt my heart the most are the pictures and my prized collection of Stephen King items. Since Katrina I have looked for hardback books at flea markets and yard sales that were in descent condition to start building up my collection again. After 4 years I have 15 books. A few of them are his new releases but I can not afford to buy all new again. So I thought maybe somebody here could tell me where to get used books at a descent price. I can't buy a bunch at a time due to funds. but if anyone knows of a site that sells used Stephen King books that I could buy a couple a month, I would appreciate you letting me know. Thanks for listening.
Now for introducing myself. I am a 52 year old female. I live in Louisiana. I moved here after Mississippi because we have family here. Actually it was a good thing that Katrina hit and sent me back here because my daughter died from an accidental overdose the following year after Katrina. So I was able to spend the last year of my daughters life with her. So don't feel sorry for me. Now I raise my 13 year old granddaughter....Now feel sorry for me lol! I am too old to be raising a teenager again. She is the love of my life though. I wouldn't trade the time I have with her. I am married to a retired Air Force Man. I have 2 Shih Tzu's that I love and they keep me active. I have 2 grown sons. One lives in this area and one lives in Mississippi. I don't have any other Grand Children. I have 5 sisters and 1 brother. My mother is still living. She was living with us when Katrina hit also. She got Alzheimers shortly after that and it progressed rapidly. I had to put her in a nursing home. Boy, sounds like I should write a book! Just the last 4 years would make a best seller. Ha Ha. Well, guess that is it. I look forward to hearing from ya all. Hope ya all have a great night. Hope I did this right.
