THe Autobiography of Henry the VIII by Margaret George is a fun book. She writes a work of fiction, but bases it on fact and history. It's very entertaining, although long.
Hi,
For a combination of the two criteria, may I recommend the novels of 'The Tudor Saga' by the English historical novelist Jean Plaidy (Eleanor Hibbert).
Impeccable research and entertainingly written IMO.

I just finished one called An Autobiography of Henry VIII with notes by his fool Will Somers. It was written by a woman called Margret George. I found it a unique view of a king that has had a lot written about him. It is written from the prspective of him writing his memoirs as he is getting old and sick.I very much enjoyed reading what might have been his take on each of his wives and other events of the times. Give it a whirl
Hi,
I haven't read the Margaret George book yet (thankee for the heads up!), but it's gone on my list; I've read several of her other books and thoroughly enjoyed them, notably Mary, Queen of Scots (must get her Helen of Troy as well!).

With a nod to the dearly departed Mr Swayze...
"I'm Henry the Eighth I am, Henry the Eighth I am I am...
I got married to the girl next door, she's been married seven times before..."
You gotta love it!![]()
I saw that Helen of Troy myself, it is on my list as is the Mary Queen of Scots one.
