    Default Book Recommendations

I truly look forward to SK's Pop of King columns in Entertainment Weekly. Always a treat, but I particularly like when he gives us his book reviews and/or recommendations. There have been so many that I've followed up on and was never (except as noted below) disappointed.

One in particular, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, of which you can read his review here at

What a great read! I recommended it (and loaned it) to family and friends. Now, the second book in the trilogy has been released, Catching Fire, and I've just started reading it. The reviews have not been stellar, but so far I am enjoying it.

Other books recommended that I have read and SK did not steer me wrong!

    Heartsick by Chelsea Cain.
The Ruins by Scott Smith (movie of this was a disappointment, but the book was excellent)
The Night Gardiner by George Plecanos
    The Terror by Dan Simmons

There has been only one book so far that SK recommended that I was not thrilled with and that is The Road by Cormac McCarthy. I'm hoping the movie is better than the book ... now THAT would be a first, no?

Here's another SK recommendation, which I'm awaiting for my library to obtain from from another library of better resources:

"The Garden of Last Days" by Andre Dubus III.

    Looking forward to reading this.

Forgot to mention that I finished reading Catching Fire. Not as good as The Hunger Games, but worth reading, nonetheless.

Am reading this now and loving it; coming close to the end so I'm trying to stretch it out.
