    Question Positive Image from Dolores

The first time I read Dolores Claiborne, I had just gone through a rough time in my life. I had to go to court for my stepfather molesting me for 3 years of my life. I was in 7th grade. I had seen the movie when I was younger and decided to read the book.

Stephen King's portrayal of Dolores, Vera, and Selena helped me to become stronger. I got to see how a woman can stand her ground and not let the deadbeat men get her down.

Since then, I have read Dolores 3 more times. I am currently in the process of reading it again.

What I want to know is, How has Dolores's story helped you?

You are very brave to share this, and you sound very brave to me -handling all of this and looking to see what you've gained as a person instead of focusing at your loss. To me this book really helped me understand how strong women can be - how they can be there for each other as well as for themselves. Funny when I think about it. Dolores is nothing like me... and yet she is.

Thank you for sharing your story with us, Kmart.
Dolores Claiborne will always be one of my very favourite books. I don't understand how it doesn't get more attention.
Dolores taught me that we might never know or see the real heroes of life.

Thumbs up Re: Positive Image from Dolores

I haven't read it...yet, but my mom read it when I was having brain surgery. Thanx for the info.

Thanks for sharing such powerful stories, how brave and wonderful.

Dolores has helped me by just knowing no matter how bad your life is, there is someone, not so far away who is/has suffered almost the same way you have. They symbolize hope and a way forward.

Dolores Claiborne is such a divine read, and such a fantastic and wonderful (insert more superlatives here) character.
