Thumbs up Crank 2: High Voltage

I finally got to see Crank 2: High Voltage last night. Having seen the first one, I knew beforehand that the sequel would not be very realistic. I guess that's why I enjoyed it so much. If I thought the movie sucked, I would have called BS on some of the things went down. Since I'm a Jason Statham mark and enjoy mindless action movies, Crank 2: High Voltage was a winner.

I was genuinely surprised at how much I enjoyed the original "Crank," but the idea of a sequel just seems absurd. The same guy is presented with another ticking clock scenario? Really? I can't suspend disbelief to the extent necessary to take that movie seriously.

Isn't that the point of the first and second to be absurd action.

Some things that can be done cleverly one time, with good actors & writers plus a little luck, can't necessarily be done well a second time. Most of the original "Crank" wasn't particularly absurd...more just rather unlikely. "Crank 2" was about as good an idea as "Smokey and the Bandit 2," lol.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that the whole point of the Crank films, is that they lack any semblance of having anything even resembling a point.

I didn't see the first one. I thought the second one was an absolute hoot from start to finish - can't recall laughing so much at a film for ages.
