    Default Revisit?

    Well,

Truth be told, I've just read a newly-introduced King fan's assessment of THE DEAD ZONE, and I can't help but wonder: how many feel that Cronenberg's adaptation is potentially damning of this whole piece of storytelling? Please don't misread me; I enjoy his films, as a child of the late 70s/early 80s! It's just that...there is too much story missing from this particular one.

Once again, I feel like the "secret" is given away in the trailer (or, more particularly, in the early parts of the screenplay)....just like Kubrick's very good, utterly misdirected take on THE SHINING.

Just like IT, I'd really like to see this one done by a gifted screenwriter/director, for the record. It's a shame that the best novel that Stephen King ever put to Final Draft was not realised correctly for film...but a lot of great works went that way, in the environment of 80s Hollywood.

Anyone know how to write a screenplay?!

    Okay,

    Hi Bobbo,

As a non-purist, I can't be too upset about the film version of The Dead Zone. Cronenberg is a genius, and I am certain that the huge segments he left out, mainly having to do with the overbearing mother as I recall, were left out for good reason.

It was a defining role for Walken who's turned out to be one of the most popular character actors of his day thanks to his hair, voice, and quirky acting style.

I'm just wondering what was left out of the movie that you would have like to see. I honestly didn't find it to be a "misdirection" and actually consider it to be one of the better King films, and certainly one of the creepiest.

Live, love, laugh & be happy,
    Smikes
