Default Is Ur worth the cost?

Just wondering what everyone thinks of the story vs. the cost to actually obtain a copy as you need a kindle in order to download a copy and as far as I know the kindle costs between $200-$300. Also wondering if there are plans to add this story to a collection in the future?

It's also available on iphones or ipods that have touch screens. It will be coming out in audiobook first in 2010 but I would guess that it will make it into the next short story collection. Chances are it will be a few years before another one comes out, though, since it hasn't been that long since Just After Sunset was released.

    Hi,

It would be nice to hope that it may become available for download to PC's or perhaps appear in Playboy or Esquire etc before 'a few years' have passed though.

I agree. I just can't justify the cost of a Kindle (I don't have any cell phones either) to myself.

Well, I just finished the UR! I need some time to think about that but it's a pretty good story. Of course this one is not the best and do not tell any unexpected nor new but i enjoyed reading it

The first half seems to be a Kindle manual and describes its full functionality (that was predictable). The happy end is about the Tower and all things serve the Tower (that was predictable too). However, in the middle of the story you can find a teacher and his student who try to understand how many world there are. Would be easy to ask Jake. He knows

I did hear that Amazon is going to release a PC version of the KindleReader like the iPhone has, so people who want to read UR will be able to do so once it's released!

See this is why I want the new B&N reader to crush the kindle and put an end to proprietary formats for e-readers. If this was on the B&N reader, we poor folks could just buy the PC version and read it on our computers.

Personally, I would say it's not worth buying a Kindle just so you can read "UR" -- but the Kindle is a pretty cool device, so it's worth having in its own right.

The story itself, I thought, was great. It reminded me of Night Shift-era King, in some way I can't quite put my finger on. Good (if relatively undeveloped) characters, a strong and intriguing story hook, and a satisfying resolution. I think King has been on a real roll with his short fiction the past few years, and this is another piece of proof of it.

You know that Atari 2600 Pinball game? I'm so broke that my butt rolled over and fixed itself. Ain't no crack left. Humpty-Dumpty meet my time machine, ya foo!

(I'm obviously in need of a digital reader product. For the sake of one to eight hundred children, please research the options for me and my zero children.)

(Zero children that I don't not unknow about)
