Don't think I'd put my money on it being a good movie. The book is so much about the characters' emotions and what's going on in their own heads, that I think it would be close to impossible making it into a good film. But hey - I'll be happy to be wrong...

    Hi,

I agree that it would be very difficult, but I think Frank Darabont is just the man to do it.

    Long days and pleasant nights

I didn't like the Hostel films (or Saw films). It's easy to make a movie that is gross and offensive, but it takes pure talent to make a movie scary, that kind that makes you afraid of the dark (or something else). Like Poltergiest made people, including myself, freaked out to be around clowns. It's like, anyone can make a movie with lots of sex in it, but it takes creativity to make an impacting, moving love story (i.e. Titanic). Darabont has the talent to make something impacting and maybe even scary. He is credited with writing a draft of Nightmare on Elm Street part 3.

i love this book and i think it would be a mistake to make it into a movie. i don't think any director is capable of putting a book like this on screen. i take that back, francis ford coppola could do it justice, but i don't think that is going to happen.

I think Frank Darabont can pull it off, he did a good job with The Green Mile and The Shawshank Redemption. I can't wait for it to be made.

Have to agree with JD, Darabont is the guy to make this into a decent movie.
If it tanks under him, then I don't think anyone could pull it off.
I would be excited to see this on the big screen.

The long walk is my favourite SK book so i'd be fascinated to see how it comes out on screen. Cell is probably my least favorite SK book so i'm not bothered about that one really. Incidently i thought Hostel was brilliant, i like to see lots of gore and you don't get much more gore than you do in Hostel

Eh, if you like gore try the original Day of The Dead, on the other hand, I think Darabont would do this movie justice, he hasn't disappointed yet!

I'd love to see The Long Walk as a movie. That was the first Stephen King book that I ever read, although it was technically a Richard Bachman novel. Can't wait for it to come out!
