Has anyone else experienced the audiobook

I'm curious to know if anyone else has listened to this book in it's audio format? I found Duma in a rental rack of audiobooks in a truck stop and the synopsis intrigued me so much I had to get it. The narrator John Slattery, seems to really nail the personalities of the various characters. I loved the story so much I listened to the CD's 5 or 6 times before I finally returned it wishing I owned the copy.

Once I would have said the "Dark Tower" books were my favs but "Duma" has surpassed that epic tale and made it into the number one slot. I loved it so much I bought a copy to have on my Ipod. I must have listened to it a dozen times and it never gets old.

I am a big fan of audiobooks. I thought Duma was great listening, maybe even better than the last of the Dark Tower series. You should also check out Bag of Bones read by SK or Insomnia read by Eli Wallach. Both are excellent.

Last week my wife and I spent the week in Florida, staying in the Sarasota area. We drove down from Pennsylvania, and decided to listen to the audio book version of Duma Key during the drive.

Didn't finish it during the trip down there, so any time we drove around while there, we popped the CD in and caught more of the story. We finally finished it on our last night in town, bringing the last CD into our house and listening on the stereo.

Great book, and a great reading by Slattery. It made it even more special to experience the book while in the Sarasota area, daily passing by the sites mentioned in the book. We even drove to the southern end of Casey Key just to make sure Duma didn't exist. ;-)

My first post here, but glad I found the place. Big King fan and I'll probably stick around and join in the conversations.

I loved the audio book. He brought Wireman to life.
So far Under The Dome was the best, the reading of Big Jim makes my skin crawl.
I have also enjoyed the books King himself has read (Bag of Bones and Desperation)

Loved the audiobook, as well. I had to google the narrator (Slattery), as I don't watch much TV and had never heard of him. He really captured Wireman and Edgar, and even the daughters. (Loved his French accent; I was a French minor, and listening to a real French delivery was fun!) I'm almost to the end (they've just reached the south end), and plan to listen again to catch the nuances I'm sure I missed in the beginning.

William Hurt reading "Hearts in Atlantis" annoyed the crap out of me at first, but he grew on me. King jumps in halfway through, then back to Hurt, back to King, etc. It was a very interesting collaboration.

Duma Key is the only audio I've heard, more than once. I'm not bragging, or nothing, but I can read faster than the speaker, that white-blonde-haired guy. I enjoyed it, especially how he did Elizabeth. Those one word replies of hers, really, all of her dialogue.

Yes, yes, and YES!!! I loved it. I actually had to buy two copies of this audiobook because my husband, who is not a big King fan loved it too. So I bought two so we were not always fighting over it.

I've listened to many audiobooks, because I used to have a long commute, and this was one of my favorites. Great book, great reader.

I picked up this audio-book from the library - didn't know anything about it. I was somewhat skeptical but ended up being surprised. I thought the tone and narrative of the book hearkened back quite a bit to his older books. I enjoyed listening to it.

I have become a big fan of audio-books over the past few years. First of all, because I have a 20 mile commute to work so I'm in the car a lot. But also because I work in a bakery. Two days out of the week my shift starts at 1:30 in the morning and I'm by myself for several hours mixing the various breads. So that's ideal time to listen to books as well.

Others have already given recommendations on other King works on audio-book. I would second the suggestion to listen to as much Frank Muller as you can get your hands on. In terms of King's work, It was possibly one of the best audio-books I have ever listened to. Steven Weber narrates the book and while he goes a little over the top at times, he throws everything he has into the performance and does an amazing job.

On the subject of audio-books does Ms. Mod or anyone happen to know if The Stand is ever going to be released on audio-book format?

I still haven't heard anything about an audiobook in spite of repeated recommendations to the publisher that an audiobook is in popular demand. I don't understand why they haven't since they've just recently done so many others of the back titles.
