    Default My Journey Begins

Today, I've started reading THE GUNSLINGER. This will be the third time I've attempted reading the series (both prior outings hitting a brickwall with WIZARD AND GLASS). But, this time, I plan on finishing the darned thing!

Wish me luck as my journey begins anew...

    Hi,

Good luck (not that I think you need it!).

Enjoy the greatest journey in world literature IMO right through this time.

    Long days and pleasant nights

    Hi good luck!

it happened to me as well, first time i started, i was... mmmm don t know.
but then i waited and it conquered me .
but my full passion arrived with The Drawing of The Three and i was hooked.
i started to read SK 30some years ago and i always refused to read The Dark Tower series till SK didn t finished it. i had the books in my house but i was waiting and waiting.

5 years ago i opened a small book shop in my town ( i think because i m addicted to books first of all ) it stayed open little more than a year but when i was closing up the last DT arrived .
my shop s name was Blue Heaven and when i was going through the pages i saw the Blue Heaven part and felt a chill and said to myself... well now is the time, Steve did his job, now you have to do yours...plus that blue heaven thing... a sign!

the gunslinger in my opinion has a life by itself, it is like a diesel, it takes time to warm up, but when it does it goes as smooth as a creme caramel!
so good luck, i am sure you will fall in love with Roland and Co.
    i did, i still am .

    Hi,

Very good point, if you have trouble with The Gunslinger (some do, though not me) please keep going and I'll bet you get drawn in within a few pages of DotT.

And DON'T open any DT threads!

    Long days and pleasant nights

Thanks for the replies! Your well wishes are most appreciated.

I finished THE GUNSLINGER. As usual, I found it to be one of my favorite Sai King outings. I love the book.

I'm now onto THE DRAWING OF THE THREE (which is one of my top 5 Sai King books).

    The journey continues!

Welcome to the board, Mr. Palmer. I myself started the Gunslinger last night. We can support each other on our journey! lol....good luck. I think I managed to get to page 15 before I fell asleep (not because the book was boring, it was my bedtime)

Another word of advice, don't try to take it all chug-a-lug. I took a break after The Waste Lands , and read Duma Key, then went back, refreshed, to W&G. I'd say the final three volumes pretty much read as one continuum, as do the first three.

Damn, how did you manage to take a break after The Waste Lands!??!

When I finished that one, I started with W&G the very same day. I really feel bad for the oldtimers around here who read the books as they were released, and had to wait 6 years between book 3 and 4 !!
