Fantastic read, now where is the Audiobook?

I read this book about 15yrs ago and it was a fantasic read. I love post appocolyptic stories. I've never been a person who re-reads a book. Once i've read it, that's it I'm done I don't need to go through the process again. I know alot of you have read and re-read this novel many times and thats great. But what I want to see is an Audiobook of "The Stand" I don't get why so many of the shorter titles show up on audio but something like "The Stand" languishes in print and reprint hell. I own many of kings titles in audio format and I've listened to all of them many times. The first of them being "The Gunslinger" read by the man himself, now that is one hell of a listen lemme tell you.

You've got a version of The Gunslinger, read by King? I'd love to hear that. I've heard the Frank Muller version of the original and the expanded version with George Guidall.

Now that you mention it, a google search brings up nothing for The Stand. Weird.

I'm sure you could find a torrent of it but I'm also pretty sure that's frowned upon here.

Yep, in fact the first three novels in the "Dark Tower" series were read by Stephen King. In the forward he mentions that though he's not a trained voice, at the time he says that the author reading their own work lends more credence to the story. I loved him reading them because who better to know the characters than the one who wrote the book. The original recordings are hard to find these days and if you can find one they are generally very expensive to get. Frank Muller did a fine job when they realeased the newer versions but they just don't compare to Mr. King's voice telling the tale.

The first (cut) version of the Stand was issued by Books on Tape in an unabridged format. These occasionally show up on eBay. Initial price was $100. I have this. The Uncut Stand has not, to my knowledge, ever been put on audio.

I just registered to say that the "Complete and Uncut" version of The Stand was recorded. It must have been a long time ago too, because I have it on tape. It was read by Bruce something...can't remember his last name. Anyways, it's eight tapes.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe that recording was a mass market release and the only version I've been able to find that was done as a recording for the blind was of the earlier edited version.

I have the audiobook of the uncut edition which I found online as mp3's. However, I wont give a link unless rs Mod thinks it will be ok. If this is not available to purchase and if the user owns the book then I think it is ok, but that is up to Ms Mod to say 'yay' or 'nay'. I don't want to break any rules, nor take any royalties away from Sai King.

My suspicion is that it is not a legitimate copy and is violating Steve's copyright as it would not have been available in an MP3 format for sale to the public. I'd appreciate having the link, though, if you wouldn't mind PMing me with that.

I downloaded a torrent of the uncut version. It can't be any kind of an official release. The quality is good enough, don't get me wrong but the reader makes way too many mispronunciations.

The first hundred pages or so the word pissant is said three times. The first two times he reads it as pizzant instead of the correct, piss ant.
He also pronounces Narragansett Beer incorrectly. Nair AGG in sett instead of Nairah gan set.

I would think if it were an actual release that there would be an editor to correct the many many mistakes like those above.
