Default Writing Area, your own little cave...

Well, I haven't seen any on this message board before so I thought I would give it a shot and see if any of the other writer's would like to share some pics with the rest of the people here on the boards.

People ask me all the time, "Where do you write?", I laugh and say the basement, which is very much true. Only on certain occasions do I venture upstairs to write at the dinner table, and on those occasion it is when I am alone in the house and have no distractions to bother me.

But pictured below are some quick iphone shots of my own 'little' space or cave where I do all my writing and I can shut the door(well, black curtains so to speak) to the world and be just in my own little area like Uncle Stevie suggests.

I was wondering if any of the other writers here on the SKMB would like to share some shots of their own 'little' area where they themselves shut the door to the outside world?

A wide shot of the writing table and goody shelves.

A close up of the writing table, yeah it's an old postman's desk(or so I have been told) I love the look and feel of it when I sit down to write. I wouldn't trade it for anything.

    *BONUS*

This is the other side of my little cave. This is where I edit and pull things all together and make them all shiny.

Well, I hope you enjoyed taking a little sneak peak at my own writing area, I am eager to see yours.
    Best,
    Bal

I am in the process of building my "cave." I forsee it containing a small desk, books, paper, pens, computer, printer etc. ... maybe a stereo. I have heard some writers (Mr King also) enjoy listening to some tunes as they write. I am not so sure if this wouldnt distract me. I think it is good you have two areas, must help your mindset. At the moment I write on a laptop anywhere I can bedroom or dining room.

And all your little aliens / models. Is that your genre - SF?

I like your "cave" with all your aliens, but your desk is a winner - i love it. Would love to find one like that. I am in the process of building my cave. I can't wait until I can close the door! Good luck with your cave moments - hope your little aliens send you lots of inspiration! DKK

I used to have some nice spaces in which to write and do some of my artwork. Then my family started growing, then they started growing evil, and then they turned my office into a junk storage room. So now I just write wherever, mostly using my laptop. And I like your pet monsters.

hey dumakeykate, my main genre is horror and fantasy, i like sci-fi but it's not my cup of tea when writing. =(
and thanks for all the kind words and sharing information about your own lil' cave for writing!

That's really cool! Thanks for sharing.

I have a study in my house where I write. It looks out over the duck pond in the side yard.

I don't have any pics, but I'll try to describe it:

I have both CREEPSHOW posters on the walls. My stereo system and CDs. A television and a ton of DVDs resting in the corner. And my desk. I have a skull candle on it (my mother bought it for me - hush now) and my lucky Greedo action figure. Throw in the computer, printer, and all the other little gadgets and you have the rest of my desk.

I wish I could post pics. I'd love to share it with you all...
