    Question Paperback Book SIZES

Of course I haven't gone to the book store to investigate, but I thought I'd just throw this question out there and maybe I'd get a quick answer.

Are Stephen's paperbacks being printed in the new 6" X 9" size or bigger? Many of the newer, contemporary novels are this size and I just love the feel of it in my hand. I've come to really dislike the original paperback size.

Any chance? If not, how about it Stephen?

Iknow that all of the Dark Tower books are available in the larger size (6x9) and I have seen some of the others (don't remeber which ones) in the larger size as well.

They are starting to print all the new books in the larger size(I think). I know I have Bag of Bone(Tenth Anniversary) and Just After Sunset in this size. I am sure their are more too.

I don't know if it's a policy but I've noticed the X-large tendency as well. I've actually been held up at an airport once because the security guy thought Four Past Midnight could be used as a weapon. He was of course 100% right...

Are you talking about paperbacks or mass market paperbacks? Paperbacks are usually close to the size of a hardcover novel while mmp are pocket size.

I can't stand mass-market paperbacks, especially of King's work. It is hard to read his longer books in that format. I much prefer the wider page such as the few reprints of his earlier work in the same format as Salem's Lot. I think they also did The Shining, Everything's Eventual and Carrie in this format. You can check Amazon. I wish I could find more like this.

Are you referring to the slightly taller mass-market paperbacks like Duma Key? I don't care for these either because I think the page is too cramped but I will read King no matter what the words are printed on.

It really annoys me the new UK trade paperbacks of Sai King's books... they all look great on the shelf, then Dumas Key came along twice the size and threw my whole collection off!

    :P

Personally, I wish they had stayed with the old style mass market paperback. Less paper. Save a tree right? I always found the smaller ones were easier to hold. The bigger size means I will run out of room in my house for books even faster. (I swear one corner of the house is sinking under the weight of my books...)

    Hi,

Things to said on both sides IMO.

On one hand, the trade editions look better on a shelf and are undoubtedly better for reading.

But on the other, they don't fit into a pocket for traveling nearly as well as the MMP.

Horses for courses, apples and oranges, I guess.

    Long days and pleasant nights
