I always have an excuse to buy another book even when i have hundreds of them already. I cant go past a charity shop or a book shop without thinking i will just pop in!!!!

How bad is your addiction ?

I spent today tidying my books up its gives me such happyness knowing that i can just open a book up and escape!

Certifiable. Bad. Every "non-work" or "being a husband/Dad" moment is spent with my nose in a book. Or so it seems...

I keep buying them and they keep stacking up in the queue to be read.

    So little time.

OH MY GOSH....ADDICTED, ADDICTED YOU SAY!!!!

I go into withdrawals without the written word. Get away from me with your telly and your cinemas, let me draw my own pictures with the words I am given by so many, many wonderful wordsmen. And no one can do it any better than our gracious Host, Mr. King, who eases my addiction and soothes my fevered cravings.

ADDICTED NOT ME!! I always tell people books are better than booze as far as addictions go. Not that I mind a little tipple from time to time.

    Hi,

Yes, likewise, I have a narrow path between the book stacks from my bedroom door to my bed (bedroom smells like a used bookshop), and that's not counting the hundreds of shelved ones

And I have a friend (Hi Kim) who has an 'alleged' coffee table LOL

Have you ever been to London and trawled the remarkable profusion of book shops around the Charing Cross Road?

    Or visited Hay-on Wye?

    Wonderful!

I'm right there with you, Queen. All books, not just SK's. I have loved to read all my life and am confused, and a little sorry, when I hear people said they hate to read. What a loss. So far, my two teenage daughters read, and not just for school. That makes me feel good. I hope it is a habit that will continue the rest of their lives.
Yep, it is an addiction, and I don't need an interdiction.
    Peace.

Sometimes it annoys the woman. She'll pop in a DVD to watch together and I'll read instead. It's not my fault the movies always suck.

All in all it's not that bad though. If I have books I haven't yet read I'll avoid purchasing more. Just yesterday I refused to go to Barnes and Noble, as I have three books on my plate already.

I just love browsing in Bookshops old or new. I even like the smell of them. Guess I'm just an addict. Hooray !

yeah that sounds like me. i own about 1000 books and have only read maybe 600 of them, and yet i still keep buying them, 2 for every 1 i get through, it seems. charity shops - yes the oxfam book shop near my office must LOVE me. that's where i buy all my books. and when they only cost £2 each, you run out of excuses not to buy them. and then they're all in big stacks at home and i get to go through the whole collection and organise them...and it's amazingly nerdy how much pleasure that gives me.

Not as bad as my videogame, plant, cap and art addiction.

Books? Hmm... yeah, I got 3 books to learn Japanese, an interesting language IMO. Just trying to understand all that anime, lol!
