    Question Marriage Tales

Ok, so, I'm all curious now.....what are some of the marriage stories here on the MB? I'm sure there must be many tales of how two people met, became friends, became something more, got engaged, then, finally, married.....and how the wedding went, if it went according to plans, if someone tripped over the train, if the ring bear started growling......

    Come on, guys, story time!

I met my husband in a bar. We were both falling down drunk. When we sobered up, reality set in. Mine is a cautionary tale and not one of sweetness and light. And it makes me sound like a real alchoholic, doesn't it? But hey, it was the sixties. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it!

I met the husband in college. he and my roomate dated. I used to keep an eye on him if we were all out and she wasn't there. He was always well behaved. BAck then I never even saw him as a male, he was just my roomates property. After college they broke up, and a year after that he called me. At first I was like, "you've gotta be kidding me. You?" But we always did like each other. So we started dating and stayed together for 5 years. Then things turned sour and we broke up for 4 years. Then we got back together, dated 3 years, and now we've been married for 3 years. He's a real devil. He's a wise-acre, artsy, musical, good looking, always smiling devil.

Our wedding was pretty small so it went off without a hitch. Out honeymoon was in Aspen,Colorado. It was November when we went, and very beautiful and snowy. Only problem was the altitude, it knocked us out! We could barely do more than grab a meal and then fall back asleep! But after the excitement and stress of the wedding it was really nice to just relax.

I'm rockin' it old school! I met my wife when I was a horny 16 yr old in high school back in 88. We stayed together, minus a 2 month sew your oates thing I went through my senior year in high school. We "lived in sin" up until we finished college then got married. Took out a $3500 loan to pay for it all. And now we can't seem to get rid of each other! Best $3500 I ever spent.

I met my husband in a bar. Actually, I always said I wouldn't even date someone I met in a bar, but he wore me down.
The story of how we met is quite hilarious. I had been hiking all day, was in a pair of cut off shorts and a black mens style undershirt tank top. I had no make up on, my hair was pulled back into a ponytail. My friend picked me up literally from the end of the trail to go have dinner and so we went and had dinner. Halfway through she says "I want to go party" and I said "Well, that might be a little hard, what with it being a Tuesday and all"
So she sat and thought about it for a minute and came to the brilliant conclusion that the bar just down the road form her house had Karaoke on Tuesday nights. And so off we went.
We get there and get a table. We order drinks, she grabs the binder with the song list, picks me a song, takes it up to the KJ and comes to sit back down. The whole time she's watching someone on the other end of the barroom.
    "He's looking at you"
    "Who?"
    So she points him out.
Now, my best friend is the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in person. This is no joke. She is drop dead gorgeous. So, I'm thinking, right. He's staring at you, ya dumbass.
    And I say as much.
"You're not wearing your glasses, you can't see! Lets move over there and get a better look"
And so I go because why the hell not. At the very least he's checking her out and she might be able to get a hook up. I'm nothing if not accomadating.
Well, I just get to the spot to sit and they call my name. I get up to sing and the table where this guy is just goes farkin nuts. I sing, its fun. Meanwhile, a guy who is not the supposed "Starer" from the starer table goes over and starts talking to my friend. Next thing I know, the starer comes over and starts talking to me.
What do you know? He WAS staring at me in my horribly unprepared state.
So we talked. Jenny butted in with "She's coming home with me, by the way, so if all your looking for is <expletive deleted> you are out of luck."
    And so, that was that.
Except he actually called me the next day. And the day after that. It turns out he likes hiking. And fishing. and cars! And And And...best of all, he likes to laugh! And you have to love a man who recognizes raw talent. Cause mam cleans up nice, but that night I looked something like roadkill. When he moved back to South Dakota, he kept calling and next thing I know, I'm on a plane headed for the plains. We were married 1 year after we met.
Which would be four years ago.
    Today. (Aug 20th)
So, happy fourth wedding anniversary to me!

    Question Re: Marriage Tales

Some fun stories on here already! Very much looking forward to more!

I feel so awkward, telling my story, it seems so mundane!

The day I met my husband, is the day we started dating. We both were at a dance, with our respective friends. And I had noticed him standing there, with his dark hair, standing up in spikes, doing my mighty best to get his attention.
After a while, after my socalled seductive skills had failed, I headed over to him as soon as I heard a slow dance starting.
I asked him to dance (Sadie Hawkins, anyone?!), he didn't refuse and by the end of that dance we were all over each other (in a respective manner, I was only 16 back then! I still had some virtue.. ).
It wasn't love at first sight or anything. For him neither, but we grew closer to eachother over time and now eight years later, we'd decided to get hitched. It was kind of a now or never deal.. Guess we chose the now and forever!
