33 Pages Missing?

Hi everyone. I'm hoping someone can help me. My boyfriend and I are avid King readers, not to mention book collectors. We have two copies of The Stand Uncut version. Both are First Trade Edition, printed in May 1990 by Double Day. Anyway, my boyfriend discovered that 33 pages (pg 418-451) were missing from the book. At first we thought maybe they had been ripped out, but no. They're just missing. Even odder is that only one copy of the book has the missing pages. Thankfully, we have the second book that is complete. Anyone know anything about this? I've tried searching all over but haven't been able to find any info.

It's just a binding error which makes even more sense that one would have it and the other might not. First editions of Steve's books can be at or close to a million copies--I don't remember the print run for that edition. The chances of a misbound copy with those kinds of numbers are pretty high.

Thanks Ms Mod. I appreciate the info. I've read King for years and had never heard of pages missing. I'm really glad we had the second book to get the whole story!

According to my records, approximately 400,000 copies of The Uncut Stand were first printed. With such a large printrun, errors are not uncommon. There are some people out there that do collect these sort of things.
