The movie sucked canal water. The story was far and away better. Lots of special FX do not a great movie make(unless you're Avatar).
They were both good. I went on a date to 1408 when it was in theaters that was an AWEFUL date. only good part was the movie.
I preffered the books ending. The film started slow but then quickened the pace, some bits of the film scared me alot and it was good to watch

I have to agree. It was boring! The written story (which always does) brings you into it much more. I thought the Stand series was the best film adaptation but then again it was 3 different parts (and needed). Though it was missing a couple of characters (can't getem all!).
Is there ever a case where the movie is better than the story? The mind can always conjure images that cannot be translated to film. And each person has a different definition of scary.
I have to say the story was much better than the movie. Tho I did enjoy the theatrical version of the move, I have to say the written story was much better.![]()
I enjoyed both. I saw the movie first, which made me want to read the story. No complaints here...![]()
I liked the movie, but mostly due to the presence of the idea found in the short story, and to the extent that it departed from what's in the original, the movie suffered. It's almost but not quite true that the two works are unrelated, in my view. The short story was exceptionally scary and creepy, even disturbing (I love being disturbed). I much prefer the ending in the short, but prefer everything else there, too.
