    Default the stand novel

i just want to take this time to say im so glad i found this forum - i bought the book the stand a while back, and it was just shoved in the drawer for a while, and i happened to stumble across this forum and saw the raving reviews for this novel, so i decided to read it, and i couldnt put it down! it was so gripping, and i couldnt help but follow the characters with my heart in my mouth, especially fran, and the love story that later evolved with stu.

this has to be one of my favourite books by stephen king, it was heart wrenching, gut churning, exciting, yet so sad and in some parts horrifying, but it is a must read, and really makes you realise how precious life really is.

Well said. The Stand remains my favorite as it was when I first read it in 1979. I've been hooked ever since.

Danielle, you don't mention if you have the original Stand or the Uncut version. If you've got the original, get the Uncut version! It's an order of magnitude better!

I totally agree. It makes you want to call people you care about and make sure they know you care about them. It is sad, and still optimistic. It deals with human evilness as well as with humanity's kindness and undeniable love.

So how long is the uncut version. I read the original (I think) years ago...and I did not know there was another edition.

I loved this book, too. I just got done reading it for the second time a couple of weeks ago. It's such an epic novel. It goes to show you good can overcome evil and people can come together to help each other, I LOVE this book.
