    Default New Girl

Hiya guys you might think I'm being cheeky joining as I have to hold my hands up and say i've never read a SK book ever!
I'm pretty new to his works but really enjoy the films that have been made based on his books. I'm looking to start reading some as I really love reading, so I come here for some help to find the perfect one to get me hooked like so many others. There's just soOo many to choose from!

Looks like you must have a good resource at home with AptPupil for advice about SK reading material. It appears you're using the same computer.

    Ms Mod

You're both right and wrong. Tanya is, indeed, my partner, but we're not actually using the same computer, only the same internet connection. She is now the proud owner of a new "netbook", which, according to her, is the only way she can get sufficient computer time around here.

However, I take no responsibilty whatsoever for any posts that bear her name!

Just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has welcomed me to this site,
also to those that meant to do it but never got round to it
Looking forward to getting to know you all,
Will let you know which book I pick to start me off and keep you posted with my views
Oh by the way I have 3 children and as lovely as they are they do take alot of my time so it may take some time to get through one of SK's books as they seem to be quite big.

    Hi Tanya!
    Start with an oldie.
    Start with The Stand.
And do yourself a favor -
    read the unabridged version.

Even if it leaves a mark on your chest from propping it up.

I have a great love of SK's short fiction. You'll find a lot of great novels to choose from, but there are also a good number of wonderful short story collections. As an introduction, I would choose Skeleton Crew. I absolutely loved Mrs. Todd's Shortcut and The Reach, but the rest of them are quite good as well.
And for a stand alone novel, I really heartily endorse Bag of Bones. I think it is a great introduction and an incredible novel!

Congrats on getting your own computer. Have fun!
