When I read a book and I get to a part that scares the beejeebus out of me, I put it in the freezer to let it cool off.
Truth.
Needless to say, many, many of Sai King's books have spent time cuddled up to frozen chicken legs and ice cubes.

We all have our own ways of dealing with what scares us. I think yours is very creative and unique! I like the idea!
Actually, I got the idea from reading "The Hobbit" to my kids when they were little. They'd get wigged out and we would all troop down to the fridge and I'd stick the book in the freezer.
My daughters still do it, to this day.![]()
Funny, the same thing happened in an episode of Friends.
Rachel finds a copy of "The Shining" in Joey's freezer. He says he gets too scared reading it and puts it in the freezer.
This is a fantastic idea! Way more effective than my method: Covering my eyes and peeping through my fingers, as if reading it with my eyes hald covered will diminish my fear or excitement...![]()
I have to admit that Stephen King has never "scared" me. Sure, there are creepy parts in his work, but he's never given me any nightmares.
Bentley Little on the other hand...
is this how people get petrified moose meat? lately, i've been sticking my cell phone in the freezer. has to do w/nasa and the uranians.
ive always had this weird thing where when a character dreams something bad in his sbooks, I end up dreaming about it. Like in WOTC, I dreamed of my wife doing the same thing two nights in a row.Mayhap I should have stuck the boo in the freezer.![]()
I like this thread.....what other weird "rituals" or habits do we all have?
I personally can't stand to have the TV remotes askew on the coffee table. Drives me nuts. My husband moves them on me just to get my goat, then laughs his ass off.
Others, peeps?
