Default Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens

    When the dog bites,
    When the bee stings,
    When I'm feeling sad,
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad.

    A smattering of mine:

    1. Walking outside and feeling the crispness of the first real day of autumn. If the smoke of wood smell is in the air, that is a bonus.
    2. A cup of Sainsbury's Red Label tea with cream and sugar. Yes, I know, it's just tea to you UKers, but it's far superior to anything we have here, and every cup makes me think fondly of the friend who sent it to me.
    3. Snuggling into a bed freshly made with sheets that just came out of the wash.
    4. Baby giggles.
    5. Bear hugs.

    Anyone else?

    ooooh, lovely post!
It is so easy to focus on all the bad stuff, that you sometimes forget all the good things.

    I love:
    1) Springtime. There is a constant noise of dripping water whereever you go, and you notice how the sun starts to feel warm on your skin again.
    2) Summer evenings/nights. Warm, light (sun sets at ~9.30/~10 PM compared to winters ~4/4.30 PM) and lovely.
    3) New-book-smell + the scent of a recently open box of wooden coloured pencils.
    4) Laughter
    5) Looking up in the sky and getting dizzy when thinking of how amazing it is that we exist, and how enormous the universe is, and how beautiful some things are.

Ice cream on a hot day
Climbing into bed for a nap
The surf washing over my feet
Driving fast, listening to my favorite songs
Giggling with my daughter & my husband
My husband kissing me awake in the morning

    2) crusty bread and real butter
    3) snow
    4) a clean house
    5) when the wind blows the treetops around and I can see it through window from inside the house, safe and sound.

Gossamer Dew on the morning grass just before the sun rises.
If I had my life to live over again I'd go barefoot earlier in the spring...
and stay that way later into every fall.

    A "feelgood" thread, Todash?

    It'll never catch on.

The smell of freshly cut grass
The wind blowing in my hair
Waking up and knowing everything is alright
Hugs from my girls and husband

I went through a bout of Post Natal Depression after I had my youngest - when I came out the other side I began to appreciate the smaller things in life like not waking up with that feeling of dread wrapped tight around my chest.

I remember that song as an awakening when I was a child. The music teacher was singing it at the piano, and when she got to the part about geese that fly with the moon on their wings, she stopped and asked if anyone knew what that meant. I was visualizing the whole song and saw the image, clearly in my mind, but no one answered. So I raised my hand and said it wasn't really the moon on their wings, just the light of the moon reflecting off of their wings. Everyone looked at me like I was nuts. That was in second grade and I can still feel the crush of the class staring at me for being so ridiculous.

The teacher just stared at me, too. She paused long enough that some kids actually began to make fun of me. Then she said I was exactly right. I learned about what imagery was that day, and a good lesson in human nature and teaching technique.

    My favorite things are:

    Honesty,
    Loyalty,
    Courage,
    Love,
    Compassion.

These are things that can't be photographed or put in a box. They are created by living souls, and can be gone in a moment. They are the most beautiful things that can't be seen with the eye, only with the heart. They are reasons to live and reasons to die.
