    The Shawshank Redemption is now a Smash Hit Play!

    It is playing at the Wyndham's Theatre, London from 4 September 09.

    yeah i've been wondering how that's going to work. i suppose the movie was mostly dialogue, so that would work on stage, but how would you portray the ending?

    that sounds like a look of work to fit that onto a stage, as thymeoperator just said, the ending will definetely be a struggle

    I saw it on the stage in Dublins Gaeity Theatre. Had a couple of minor complaints. Let me know what you think

    I have just noticed that The Shawshank Reedemption has been turned into a West End play over here in the UK.

    Did Mr King have any input with this?

    Have any other of Mr King works made it on to the Stage?

    No, Steve was not directly involved with the production.

    Other stage adaptations include Carrie, Carrie the Musical (no, I'm not kidding), and Misery. There have been others but those are the ones that come to mind.

    There was also an off-broadway production of Carrie a year or two ago that was performed by drag queens. And, no, I'm not kidding about that, either!
