It was better Dees leaving The Night Flier alone, or he being framed by "Jimmy" as The Night Flier?

I thought the movie's ending was surprisingly better than Steve's, the story is about obsession and the extreme roads it can takes you, while in the book Dees pushes the abort button, in the movie he doesn't.

What was the best ending?

King likes to leave some of the endings to us.
The Mist story had an open ending which was fine. But the ending of the film, though
appropriate, was for me disturbing.

Could say the movie has 2 endings really, cos it still contains the final scene in Steve's short story. I loved the ending of this movie, great twist! I tell ya, no way did we see THAT coming! Superb! Although I'm a guy, the ending is sooo Girl Power too!

I enjoyed the ending of the movie better. That doesn't happen very often for me when Hollywood decides to get "creative" with SK's material, but in this case it worked.

Re: The ending of The Mist was a real letdown for me. I often find in SK's books that usually the kid in the story survives, at times losing his own parents but still - the kid survives, after going through some horrific stuff (usually), but still - the kid survives...I really like it when the kid survives....it's one of my favourite parts of the ending....the kid survives....man.... .

I liked the ending from the movie better, and I agree with EMARX, the ending in The Mist was very disturbing indeed.
