I'm a massive Dark Tower fan and I'm new to this site

Hi, I'm new to this site and am not 100% sure how to use it, but hopefully I'll manage it ok. I'm a MASSIVE Dark Tower fan, I think I read part 6 & 7 with my jaw hitting the floor most of the time. Mr King is an absolute genius, I just couldn't believe how he managed to tie in all his books to the DT! It was just fantastic.

The frustrating thing is I have never met anyone in person who has read the DT. None of my friends understand what I do be going on about when I rave about the DT, but I keep telling them that when the film comes out, they will finally understand. I'm sure Abrams will do a great job of the film/tv series, whatever way they decide to make it.

I heard a rumour that filming wont start til 2011! I first read The Gunslinger in 1994 I think, I was about 15 and I'd already read a lot of King's books. Over the next few years I read part 2, 3 and 4, and then of course there was the big gap for the final 3 books, due to King's awful accident.

I'll never forget reading part 7 while I was on holidays in Ibiza! I absolutely cried my eyes out when I finished. I read the last few pages as slowly as possible cos I knew that once I'd finished the book, that was it!!! Even though the wait for each book was torture, it was also exciting waiting for the next chapter!

I've read and re-read each book a few times and I started reading it all over again last week, I'm on part 2 at the minute and each time I read these books, I discover something new and it just never fails to amaze me.

Ok well for a new girl, I guess I've rattled on long enough. Just wanted to express some love for the DT and the genius himself, Mr King....

That's alright. You can rave on to us about DT, and we'll completely understand. It's almost impossible to talk about it to people who haven't read it. Whenever I'm in the middle of re-reading DT, I'm likely to blurt out to someone, "Thankee-sai", and they'll look at me like I've lost my mind.

I read a thread here the other day in wich a fan was just starting the DT books. Another member (More than one actully) expressed jealousy over begining that journey for the first time. It occured to me that there was not much more to say! I have revisited some of my favorite parts of the series, but never read the entire adventure again, (although I plan to) and I agree with you! Unlike other books, stories, or series you cannot explain to anyone What you and the rest of the Ka-tet are going through, and even if you tried they would not understand! Fortunately for you, you have this wonderful platform where you can share with others what it meant to you. (it does provoke many an emotion)

I actually did not think I would like the DT series. It looked western and I am no way near a western fan. Then one day I was at the book store and there was nothing new of SK so I picked up the first thee DT books. I was hooked from book one and then I found the next ones and then I had to wait for #6 and 7. When I was almost finished with #7 I waited and slowed down b/c I knew it would be over. How sad it couldn't go on forever...

thats how I felt, but I couldn't slow down. I finished the last 3 books in 12 weeks. I just devoured them. I couldn't get enough. I just had to know what was going to happen to the Ka-tet next.

Hi I too am new to this site. I have loved the Dark Tower series for a long time. I dont know if Sai King reads these forums but I want to thank him spinning such a wonder story. The story has a special place for me even though I did not start at book number one. I started at book number 3. I was in Iraq at the time and I found the book in box that some kind soul had given to the soldiers through the USO. I was a SK fan I had read The Stand, IT, and few others at the time. So in my down time (little that I had) I let myself fall into Roland's world as an escape from where I was. Yeah the guys gave me a hard time for being a "book worm" but it was worth it. Such a wonderful story and the cliffhanger ending was amazing. I actually had my family send me a copy of DT 4 so I could see what happened. I have since read the other books(this was in 2004 came home in 2005 say thankya). Loved them all. Anyway if you have donated that book I say thankya to you. And just felt I would post how the book helped me through a rough time.
